Spring Snow Goose Hunting
This hunt is for the guys that just can't wait for September to scratch their Saskatchewan goose hunting itch. We hunt the spring a little differently than the fall; we make the birds come to us. The migration is in full force and the birds are not as apt to stop and stage in our area. So the tactic we use is a big spread in a likely field smack in the middle of the flyway. Spreads this time of year are exceeding 1400 and are all set up for you. We just show up and hunt. We have layout blinds already brushed in and hidden for comfort as the waiting can be long. We typically hunt until about 11am and then come back to the lodge for lunch and quick nap, then back to the field, but we have been known to take bag lunched when the migration is at its peak and the birds fly all day. During the spring season Ross's geese may not be hunted, so close in decoying is essential for species identification. Beat cabin fever with a spring snow goose hunt in Saskatchewan.
